Naomi & Steve-
Everett & I have been out delivering food boxes today and I could not wait to get home and write this email…
While Everett was working in the ER he kept telling me about this lady that had 2 autistic boys that he had worked on for a year or so and how he just LOVED these little boys…the other night I receive a phone call from a young lady who wanted to talk to "Big E"- I explained he was out and that I was his wife could I help her with something? Well, like many other phone calls telling me how "wonderful" he was with her children, she had purchased him an Autism t-shirt from a rally he attended the other night and wanted to give it to him. B.* and I started talking and something told me this was a special young lady that needed some attention:). Her boys are 3&5-both autistic and she is a single parent-so we took her some food and diapers….this young lady made me cry. We pulled up to her house as she was getting out of the car from what was obviously a VERY stressful dentist appointment with her two sons. We started unloading items from our car and she just stopped and looked at us…suddenly she just broke down and started crying…what have you done, she asked??? We explained to her about you two and THE GOOD PEOPLE FUND, her reply "people that don’t even know me and my boys done this for us?" My own family doesn’t do this- well then I started crying…I know, big surprise:) You have no idea what that box of diapers and a few bags of groceries did for her. She now knows what we have been shown countless times, people that care about their fellow man- do exist.
Thought this might brighten your day…it did mine.
We could not be happier that the thousands of dollars worth of food that was delivered to the McRoberts community is getting exactly where it is needed.
